Candlelight Vigil, 10th December
National Candlelight vigil outside the Scottish Parliament, Edinburgh, 10th December, 2007
Celebrating the International Animal Rights Day, 1WorldScotland and Edinburgh Fur-Free City are organising a national candlelight vigil outside the Scottish Parliament starting at 4.30pm on the 10th of December.
The Scottish Animal Rights movement has been growing stronger, and we aim to send a clear message on the day - non-human animals are sentient beings with a right to life without pain, suffering and exploitation. Animal cruelty has to stop - for good.
DATE: 10th December, 2007
TIME: 4.30pm - 7.30pm
PLACE: Main entrance, Scottish Parliment (Map Here)

On December 10th 1948, the United Nations General Assembly ratified the Universal Declaration of Human Rights. The time has now come to to recognise the moral imperative to include non-human animals within the sphere of protection that the Declaration establishes. The ascription of moral and legal rights to animals, and their enshrinement in a United Nations Declaration of Animal Rights is a logical and inevitable progression of ethical thinking.
Put the date down in your diary and email info@oneworldscotland.co.uk or info@edinburghfurfreecity.co.uk to register. We assemble outside the main entrance at 4.30pm - get in touch for more details and lend your voice to the animals. Please bring candles and holders!
