Dear Mr. Roshan Singh, I am absolutely appalled to learn that the Pride of Scotland is still selling real fur. More than 50 million animals are killed each year just for their fur - either bred and raised in small barren cages on factory fur farms or caught in the wild by brutal steel-jawed leg-hold traps. Opinion polls conducted over the last 10 years have consistently shown that more than 70% of people in the UK reject fur and only 4% own anything made from fur. I am asking you to join the fur free retailer programme, an international effort by the Humane Society of the United States (www.hsus.org/furfree). The Fur Free Retailers scheme enables consumers to shop with confidence, safe in the knowledge that a retailer has committed not to use or sell any real fur, By taking an ethical and public stand against fur fashion you company has a chance to promote a public policy against violence and cruelty, and to lend your support to end this unnecessary and cruel fashion choice. Pride of Scotland can also join the growing ranks of other retailers who have already dispensed with fur. Being and ethical and compassionate member of the public, I do not wish to support a company that supports such cruelty in any way and have made the decision to boycott the Pride of Scotland until you stop selling fur and I shall make sure I tell everyone I know about this.
